We love getting the opportunity to visit someplace new that we have never experienced before. It will never grow old getting the chance to visit New York City. They say that New York City never sleeps, and that could never be truer. You will find activities and events taking place around New York City all year long. But like any other city there is a time of year where New York City is less visited. The quieter season to travel to New York City is from January to March during the late winter to early spring months. Many individuals love coming here for the holidays, making it a busy time to visit. Once the holiday crowds leave, you will find a quieter New York City with plenty to still do. Here is how to vacation in New York City around this time of year:
See the Cherry Blossoms
When someone thinks of New York City, they typically think of tall buildings and crowds always walking down the street. New York City does not only feature buildings but also parks and gardens hidden among the city. Head on over to Central Park, where the Brooklyn Botanical Garden is hidden in the area. While Central Park is easily recognizable, the garden inside is less known. The Brooklyn Botanical Garden features a beautiful display of cherry blossoms that bloom in late March. You will not find a better pop of color here in Central Park. The cherry blossoms are dependent on New York City’s weather so the exact bloom date can vary year to year. Don’t miss out on this beautiful display in spring!
Enjoy St. Patrick’s Day in NYC
The spring season is also known for being the time of year for one of our favorite annual holiday’s: St. Patrick’s Day! Come celebrate all things Irish by visiting one of the many Irish pubs here in the city. There are the annual St. Paddy’s Day parades that can be found in most New York City boroughs. Adults can enjoy a pub crawl complete with their favorite green bar while listening to live music. Don’t forget to wear green so you don’t get pinched out there!
See a Broadway Show
You cannot go to New York City and skip out on the chance to see a show on Broadway! Even for those who are not a specific fan of live theater will have a blast at these lively shows. Broadway can be found over in Brooklyn with several different venues each having a performance for the week. The schedule for spring rotates out each year so you never know what new show might pop up for you. The benefit of seeing a show on Broadway in the spring is that you will have better opportunities at getting the best seats in the house. You won’t want to miss out on this!
Catch the New York Knicks
Sports fans will rejoice when they have the opportunity to visit New York City in the early spring as the NBA season will still be going on. New York City is home to the New York Knicks and their games are always a spectacle. New York City is filled with historic venues that have been around for generations and continue to offer a majestic presence in the city. One such venue is found over at Carnegie Hall where you can find symphonic performances throughout the year. Seeing a live performance during the early spring is a great way to get inside from the cold and hear melodic music. Carnegie Hall showcases several different symphony orchestras throughout the year including the spring. They offer an event calendar so you can pick and choose which performances you wish to see. Special one night events also take place during the spring that offer unique occasions found nowhere else.
