There are quite a few reasons why you want to make your first trip up to New York City. Maybe you are looking to explore the Big Apple, celebrate an anniversary, or just try out something new. No matter what the reason, you will find plenty to do here in New York City, including lively events. June is looking to be a great month to kick off the summer season. Take a look at the top New York June events coming up on the calendar:
Coney Island Mermaid Parade
New York City is filled with many different boroughs that represent our city neighborhoods. This June, you can make the trek over to Coney Island to experience one of their biggest events of the year: The Coney Island Mermaid Parade! This long standing tradition has brought in hundreds of thousands of visitors to Coney Island over the years to see a massive parade that is inspired by Mardi Gras parades of old.

The parade will be complete with massive floats making up King Neptune and Queen Mermaid along with sea creatures, marching bands, dancing groups, and more. The Coney Island Mermaid Parade has often been seen as the true start of summer for New York City and I free to attend.
The parade can be seen anywhere along West 10th Street before it reaches its end goal of Steeplechase Plaza. For a premier experience join the Ultimate Parade Experience by the judge’s area! This year’s Coney Island Mermaid Parade will be take place on June 12th starting at 1:00 PM. Don’t forget to stop by Coney Island USA’s headquarters either before or after the parade to see their Circus Sideshow or enjoy a beverage.
NYC Pride March
One of the largest civil rights events takes place here in New York City during the month of June. NYC Pride March is a historic pride march that takes place each June to showcase love, no matter where you come from. This year’s march will also be accompanied by PrideFest that is a giant LGBTQ street fair that celebrates all things equality. The festival will have local exhibitors, food vendors, family friendly activities, and more. This absolutely free event is a great way to support local businesses that promote equality while marching with fellow New Yorkers. This year’s NYC Pride March and PrideFest will take place on June 29th.

Movie Nights at Bryant Park
If you are looking for a wonderful date night during your New York City stay, head on over to Bryant Park for their Movie Nights returning once again in June. This monthly movie series offers a free movie screening at Bryant Park. Local food and wine vendors will be on hand to help set the mood and take advantage of our gorgeous summer evenings. Movie Nights partners with Paramount+ to play hit movies you want to see with a loved one. Best of all, attending this event is always free! Don’t miss out on Movie Nights at Bryant Park every Monday night in the month of June.
Museum Mile Festival
New York City is a cultural institution with several museums found here within the city limits. Specifically, you will find an area designated as “Museum Mile” between 82nd Street to 105th Street on Fifth Avenue. You will find quite a few different museums on this stretch of the street including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Neue Galerie New York, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Museum of City of New York, and more. These museums are open most days throughout the year making it easy to see them one at a time. However, if you want to delve into the rich history of New York City consider stopping by the Museum Mile Festival. This annual event in June opens the doors free of charge for these museums along the block. You can browse each museum at your leisure. The streets are closed off allowing pedestrians the chance to walk around and explore. Join the fun for Museum Mile Festival on June 10th this year.
