A mom and kids on a hiking trail

Check Out Local Hiking Trails for the Family

One activity that is always perfect in the summer season is hiking. Whenever you travel somewhere you may look for the local trails that are a must see. Sometimes you will come across hiking trails that are not ideal for families such as those with rigorous ratings. Luckily, Asheville has many family friendly trails that are right by many of our vacation rentals. Head on over to the Asheville Botanical Gardens for a lovely selection of easy trails that are a joy to explore. Additional trails that are worth checking out also include Black Balsam and Pink Beds. You can explore these trails by foot or pick up a rental bike from a local shop. Richmond Hills Park has many new upgrades that make it a great spot for biking including their disc golf course and improved trails. Time outdoors in the summer is just what the soul needs.

Shindig on the Green

The summer season is also a great time for live music especially in events that are free to attend. You will find Shindig on the Green returning once again this year to Asheville. This outdoor festival takes places in the center of Downtown Asheville and features mountain bluegrass music. This weekly festival takes place every Saturday during the months of July and August at Pack Square Park. You will find bluegrass and old time string bands hit the stage along with ballad singers, clog dancers, and storytellers starting at 7:00 PM each evening. The event will provide a family friendly experience where you can bring a blanket and enjoy the live entertainment on a spot on the lawn. The event typically ends around 10:00 PM but this is Asheville where the locals prefer not to have hard timelines when they are having fun.

Ride the Blue Ridge Parkway

Asheville sits on the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains that are a beautiful backdrop to the city. You can see the incredible views of the mountains by enjoying a car ride through the Blue Ridge Parkway. This has been voted as America’s favorite drive where you can stop by and check out the frequent lookout points that show off some of the incredible views. Stop off at Beaver Lake in North Asheville along your drive for views of the lake or explore the Wilma Dykeman Greenway that is connected to the River Arts District. The Parkway is just the start to your incredible exploration of Asheville.

Baseballs with a baseball glove

Hit the Ballpark

For those about to experience the town of Branson for the first time, you may think you have an idea as to what you should expect, but we at Mighty Tree Properties want to tell you that you there is no way you could imagine it all and that we envy you for this first time visit. Life moves at both a slower and quicker pace, and if that sounds impossible, just wait, you will soon understand. In the meantime, this ultimate first-time visitor guide to Branson, a city once described by 60 minutes as the Live Entertainment Capital of the World, will give you a peek into your vacation of a lifetime while also offering up tips and hints that will fill in the blank spots in the itinerary you may have already started compiling for the first time you visit Branson.

It’s All About the Music

It’s hard to believe that once upon a time, Branson was nothing more than a small river town offering a general store and post office that were considered the hub of the town, places residents went to connect with neighbors and catch up with the latest gossip. Once the first theater opened and the curtain rose on the first variety show, Branson’s Famous Baldknobbers, life changed with a standing ovation. One by one, more theaters began opening, more shows hit the stages, and even as the first show still performs today at the Hughes Brothers Theater and we believe no Branson visit would be the same without it, today, over 37 theaters later, the glitz and glamour has changed our small town forever. The shows listed below are some of the shows we feel will offer an authentic Branson experience for any first time visitor.

The Duttons, The Dutton Family Theater, 3454 W 76 Country Boulevard

Just as Branson was once a humble small town, the Duttons, performing for over 20 years in our town, the Dutton Family had their own humble beginnings, beginning as a talented married couple that shared their love of music with their children, starting a legacy that we hope will continue forever. Today, the original couple, their children, and their grandchildren all perform together in a family friendly show (of course) that has become one of the top 7 shows to see in Branson.

Dolly Parton’s Stampede, 1525 W 76 Country Boulevard

Featuring a herd of horses, the music of the leading lady of country music, and a delicious and hearty meal, this dinner theater performance doesn’t have the lady herself performing but you will feel as if she is and will enjoy every minute of the story playing out on the stage. Western themed and offering rodeo events, trick riding (yes, the horses are real), and a fun battle between the north and the south, it really is a show you won’t want to miss.

Shanghai Circus, Mickey Gilley Grand Shanghai Theater, 3455 W 76 Country Boulevard

Ok, although there is music that plays in the Shanghai Circus, it’s not the primary focus of the show. Instead, it is the talented and incredibly flexible group of acrobats performing amazing high flying aerial feats, colorful dances, comedy, magic, comedic moments, and interactive activities that will make you want to join the circus yourself. The ornate 1600+ theater in which all of the above takes place is an integral part of the show, offering a golden dome roof which is responsible for the theater’s nickname, the Golden Pineapple.

More Than Theaters and Music

Branson is famous for its theaters, but that isn’t all that you will see during your adventures in our mountain town. There are many other attractions that first time visitors should explore and we have listed a few of our favorites below.

World’s Largest Toy Museum Complex, 3609 W 76 Country Boulevard

Remember your favorite toys as a kid? The Easy Bake Oven, the cast iron fire truck, even that telephone pull toy you never left home without, all of these wonderful mementos of the past are exhibits on display in the World’s Largest Toy Museum complex located right here in Branson. Also offering the Harold Bell Wright Museum, the author of the Shepherd of the Hills a story that made Branson a tourist hot spot, the National BB Gun Museum (self-explanatory) the World of Checkers Museum (again, self-explanatory) the Stearnsy Bear Museum, and the Paul Harvey, Jr. Museum, this complex will take more than a few minutes to thoroughly explore. The Stearnsy Bear is a popular stuffed animal that has been made in Missouri since 1981 and Paul Harvey, is a radio personality known for telling the rest of the story, with the museum, started by Paul Harvey Jr, tells his life story. In case you were wondering, this is one museum that the entire family will enjoy!

Silver Dollar City, 399 Silver Dollar City Parkway

Sometimes we wonder who thinks up half the things that go on in Branson, with Silver Dollar City offering the perfect example. This 19th century themed amusement park (yes, you read that right) isn’t like any other theme park you have ever visited while also being exactly like other theme parks. Offering rides, carnival games, and food, rides like the Fire Wagon Frenzy, the Frisco Silver Dollar Line Steam Train, and Grandfather’s Mansion, guests can also experience what life was like in a 19th century Ozark mining town. Silver Dollar City also offers over 100 craftsmen and women demonstrating baking, glass blowing, blacksmithing, and 97 other activities, all completed in the manner it would have been done in the 1880s. We really can’t choose a favorite craftsperson, but Phoebe Snapp’s Taffy Craftsman is pretty special, as are the Valley Woodcarvers Craftsmen.

The Titanic Museum, 3235 W 76 Country Boulevard in Branson

It might feel like a strange idea to turn a tragedy into a museum experience, but once you explore the Titanic Museum we know you will think it really works. Offering renditions of the ship, authentic movie memorabilia, and more than a few artifacts from the Titanic, guests can sit in a life-sized lifeboat, touch an iceberg, and walk along a bridge that slopes in just the way the decks would have been on that fateful night. There is one last surprise that takes place as you leave the museum, but we think that it retains more importance if you discover it yourself, so just be sure to continue your museum explorations until the bitter end. The final surprise will perhaps be the most impactful.

Events You Will Love When You Visit Branson

The events and festivals of Branson offer another way to enjoy your Missouri vacations, giving travelers an insider’s view to some of what makes our Ozarks town special.

Branson Music Fest, April, Clay Cooper Theater, 3216 W 76 Country Boulevard

For two days in April there are more reasons than ever to celebrate the music that never stops playing in Branson, and the Branson Music Fest is how we do it. You might think that after spending most every day and night with music and the stars that perform it so well, we wouldn’t be able to top that, but you would be wrong. The Clay Cooper Theater hosts a fantastic event that encompasses the acts of over 20 performers in just 48 hours. Performed by some of Branson’s top performers, the festival also offers a sneak peek into upcoming shows that you will definitely want to see, perhaps deciding to come back to Branson once they open, falling in love with more of the music that makes our town unique.

Veterans Week, November, Various Venues

Branson is many things to many different people. It is a glitzy entertainment mecca to some, its natural beauty is what attracts others, and underneath it all, it is as American as apple pie, the Empire State Building, and a summer baseball game. And we know that without our veterans, our active duty military personnel, everything we love would be in danger, and so on Veterans Day, we don’t just celebrate a single day, we dedicate an entire week to our heroes, with Veterans Week offering discounts, ceremonies, and other special events as various venues around town.

The celebrations begin with a concert at the Clay Cooper Theater, of course, and from then on, veterans can enjoy military movies shown at local theaters, can experience an emotionally impactful visit to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, a half scale replica of the real one in Washington DC, participate in a Vietnam Veterans reunion and celebrate at the Sandbox Party commemorating those who served in the Gulf War. The week culminates with a moving and exciting Veterans Day Parade, and the moments in between the opening concert and ending parade will be filled with even more events that pay homage to our American heroes!

Christmas at Silver Dollar City, 399 Silver Dollar City Parkway

Christmas is another holiday in which we go all out, celebrating in town with decorations, lights, and of course holiday themed shows, but for an extra special holiday celebration, we suggest spending some time at Silver Dollar City. Offering a theme, Old Time Christmas, and a variety of events and activities that will transport you back in time in all the best ways, there is a Living Nativity for those who truly appreciate the reason behind the season and a sparkling, glittering, parade, Rudolph’s Holly Jolly Light Parade, that will thrill all the members of your traveling part, not just the littlest ones. Also offering a festive selection of holiday themed shows, this thrilling event is celebrated from November 1st through December 30th, so those who don’t like to travel over the holiday won’t have to and they will still have the opportunity to enjoy an old fashioned Christmas in Branson.

A First Time Guide to Restaurants in Branson

Vacation meals are often the most memorable part of your getaway and to make sure you get an authentic taste of Branson, we suggest visiting the restaurants listed below.

Mel’s Hard Luck Diner, 28 W 76 Country Boulevard, Open Daily for Lunch & Dinner

Offering a menu filled with all-American diner favorites and featuring a 50s diner décor, the singing servers take Mel’s Hard Luck Diner to the next level of Branson excellence! Open for 25+ years, the casual and fun vibe makes this restaurant a popular one for families with young children, relieving parents of the burden of having to worry about rambunctious young ones.

Level 2 Steakhouse, 200 E Main Street, Open Daily for Breakfast and Dinner

When in need of a special occasion restaurant, Level 2 Steakhouse is where we love to celebrate. Offering an elevated surf & turf menu, and if your occasion is REALLY special, you may want to invest in their Wagyu Tenderloin, but only if you have deep pockets. That steak will run you $180, and sides are extra!

Farmhouse Restaurant, 119 W Main Street, Open Daily for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

And there will always be those times when you just crave good old fashioned comfort food. Everyone knows that Southern mamas really know their stuff when making food that makes you feel better, and Farmhouse Restaurant must have ALL the Southern Mamas in their kitchen cookin’ up goodies such as fried catfish and chicken fried chicken.

New Is Good

Our town has been a musical vacation destination spot for more years than you might remember and although we love the traditions, the performers who show up night after night performing as if it is their first night, we also appreciate the new. We love seeing the advertising show up months before the shows begin, we love reading what all the critics say, and when opening night occurs, we love being in the lines that can be seen out front. Below we have listed a couple of new shows that are sure to bring you the same excitement we feel when something new comes to town!

David, Sight & Sound Theater, 1001 Shepherd of the Hills Expressway in Branson

The Sight & Sound Theater is not new at all, standing in its current location for over 17 years, while its original location in Pennsylvania opened its door over 50 years ago. Bringing bible-based stories to the stage for all to enjoy, including the very first show offered in Branson, the story of Noah, in 2025 a new story is about to be told, that of David, another biblical hero that we will all look at in new ways after seeing the show. Ticket prices run $79 per person, making it a reasonable expense for first time vacationers and ensuring that you will have plenty of room left in your vacation budget for other shows you might want to see.

Thunder Ridge Concert Arena, 1901 State Highway 86 in Ridgedale

The Thunder Ridge Concert Arena is also not new, but of course we are discussing some of the new acts that will be coming to town this year. Offering an everchanging lineup of new performances, this year’s headliners excite us even more than all the ones we thought were so wonderful in 2024. The first new set of performers are due to hit the stage on April 26th, with the promise of spring also being a promise that the music will make you dance when Riley Green and Craig Morgan perform a bull riding musical performance entitled Bulls, Bands, and Barrels that we are pretty sure not too many people have ever seen before. (It’s pretty unusual to combine bull riding and music, but we are excited to see the results) A few weeks later, on June 7th to be exact, the new performers, Styx & Keven Cronin, + Don Felder, will have you singing along to all the songs you know and love with their Brotherhood of Rock show. And finally, just a week after that, Post Malone’s Big Ass Stadium Tour will make you glad music has been invented, especially when he invites old friend Jelly Roll to the stage!

Pets and Giggles, Grand Country Music Hall, 1945 W 76 Country Boulevard

The family friendly Pets and Giggles show is one of our favorite new shows, combining sweet pooches, amazing tricks, and G-rated humor that you won’t have to worry about the kids repeating; it is also an interactive show. Prepare to laugh, to be amazed at the skills of the pets in the show, and to perhaps have a chance to have a part in the performance, creating memories that you will treasure forever. We don’t know much about this new show, other than we know we are going to love the puppies and are going to laugh like we haven’t in a while, but we have heard good things, enough so that we have no problems recommending it to guests of Mighty Tree Properties.

Classic Shines Bright

As much as we appreciate what new performers, new theaters, or new restaurants bring to our lives, there is just something warm and comfortable about the classic adventures we’ve dreamed of all our lives. Who goes to Paris and doesn’t visit the Eiffel Tower, and who goes to Orlando and doesn’t visit a theme park? No one, that’s who, and the attractions and places we have listed below are the classic Branson adventures you have been dreaming about for some time now.

Branson’s Famous Baldknobbers Show, The Hughes Brothers Theater, 3425 W 76 Country Boulevard

If you’re going to experience the classic, you must enjoy Branson’s Famous Baldknobbers Show, not just the longest running show in town, but also its first show. For over 65 years this exciting variety show has led the way for others to try and keep up, offering a combination of country, rock, patriotism, and gospel music, intertwined with hilarious comedy skits. Can you really say you have been to Branson if you haven’t experienced it famous Baldknobbers Show? We think not and urge you to book your seats today. It’s a popular show and seats often sell out.

Dolly Parton’s Stampede, 1525 W 76 Country Boulevard

Dolly Parton does not perform in this visually stunning show, but if you love her music, horses, and good food, this is another show you should not miss! It’s her music that plays throughout, and we find it impossible not to sing along, but if you’re still not sure, maybe the 32 horses that make it on stage or the four-course country meal that is served concurrently will convince you that this needs to be on your bucket list. Arrive a few hours early and you will have the opportunity to stroll along the horse walk, getting a closer look at the magnificent steeds that are (in our opinion) the stars of the show. Ticket prices start at $59 per person.

Anthems of Rock, King’s Castle Theater, 2701 W 76 Country Boulevard

The television show 60 Minutes first gave Branson its nickname “The Live Entertainment Capital of the World” back in 1991, and we have worked our hardest to live up to that name ever since. Not all the shows will be musicals, but Anthems of Rock, which we thinks fits perfectly into our classic show category, celebrates the music that everyone knows all the words to. Known as the “Biggest Rock Party in Branson,” (apparently we are big on nicknames here) this show examines the biggest hits of the 20th century, performing songs from Queen, the Beatles, Bon Jovi, Journey, Aerosmith, and so many more. Prepare to end your evening feeling hoarse as you sing out loud with the performers on the stage and prepare to be perfectly alright with making a spectacle out of yourself!

New Attractions

Although we are known for the music, it isn’t all that we offer in our beautiful Missouri town, and one of the most fascinating new attractions for 2025 doesn’t involve music at all. A Flood of Reality is a virtual reality experience based on one offered at the Ark Encounter in Kentucky, offering a VR show that takes attendees back in time to the days of Noah’s Ark. This experience and the new theater it will be airing in haven’t opened as of yet but is expected to be a part of the entertainment scene by year’s end.

New Events

The best way to get to know the area you are vacationing in is by attending local events and this newest event, taking place inside the gates of Silver Dollar City, our 19th century themed amusement park, promises to be one that will entertain and engage all your senses. Offering hoedowns and new entertainers, the Kinfolk Bluegrass Band and providing opportunities to learn from master gardeners, while offering a new Fest house, and a Spring Tasting Passport that will make your taste buds cheer. Costing just $36 the passport is valid for five tasting-sized items from their spring inspired menu and we can assure you, everything you see really does taste as good as it looks!

New Restaurants

It’s hard to imagine that something was ever missing from the culinary landscape of Branson, but after sampling the delights offered at Full Throttle Distillery Grill & Smokehouse, located at 116 E Main Street, we now know what was missing and we are thrilled to say it is missing no more! Offering tasting experiences of moonshine, aged whiskey, vodka, bourbon, and sipping creams, a fantastic barbecue restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day while also offering a full coffee bar, and because this is Branson, live music as well. We are currently working our way through the menu and don’t want to choose favorites as of yet, but we must tell you that the Throttle Grits, cheddar grits topped with bacon, one egg, avocado, and smoke-roasted tomatoes is literally to die for!

New Ways to Be Comfortable

Our Mighty Tree Properties Branson retreats never fail to please, and whether you have chosen one of our classic cabins to rest and recharge in or our new additions to our vacation home line-up, there will be no regrets! Step inside spaces filled with light and warmth, and even as they offer all the elements of a classic log cabin, the luxuries and amenities will be 100% modern. Wood floors lead the way through rooms offering all the comforts of home and as you step into each space, you will already be thinking about all the ways you will live in the room. Our living rooms may feature vaulted ceilings and walls of windows, stone fireplaces, modern televisions, and sofas covered in fabric so soft, napping may be instantaneous and unavoidable. You will be exploring a lot of different restaurants during your time in Branson, but our fully equipped kitchens may entice you to stay home at least one night, making a meal and devouring it in dining rooms or in four season porches offering stunning views.

Branson Is for Relaxing

As you rush from theater to theater, shop to shop, attraction to attraction, you may forget that your vacation in Branson is also supposed to be relaxing and quiet, but when you step out on the back decks of our mountain homes, it will suddenly be perfectly clear that it is time to slow down the pace. A line of rocking chairs may be found resting on those decks and as you sit, sip on the moonshine you bought from Full Throttle, and slowly rock while the sun sets the sky on fire, you may ask yourself why you would ever want to leave this spot right here. Oh, and don’t be surprised if whittling and playing the harmonica suddenly seems like a good idea!

The Amenities of Mighty Tree Properties

Once upon a time travelers were forced to utilize sterile and cramped hotel rooms for their vacation accommodations, sharing beds, bathrooms and a single television. Amenities stopped at free Continental breakfasts and questionably hygienic swimming pools, and we were told that we only needed the spaces as a place to rest our heads between adventures. Today’s travelers would balk at the thought, expecting more and getting more in our Branson retreats, including fireplaces in bedrooms, high-end appliances, arcade games, and all the comforts of home, blended with the modern conveniences that make travel that much more enjoyable! Some escapes may offer hot tubs tucked away in a corner of the deck, others may offer access to community pools, playgrounds, and sports courts. And all will offer an experience that no one wants to end. Reserve your favorite Branson sanctuary from Mighty Tree Properties today!

Last year was a difficult time for the community of Asheville. Untold damage occurred to the city with the arrival of Hurricane Helene, and all anyone could do was watch it unfold. While Hurricane Helene damaged the community, it did not break our spirit here in Asheville. Continued efforts for rebuilding the community have taken place in Asheville to help make it look better than ever. If you are concerned that now may not be a great time to visit Asheville, you will be pleasantly surprised that many parts of the community are still open and ready to host new visitors. Take a look at some of the recovery efforts taking place in Asheville at this time:

View Our Asheville Vacation Rentals Here!

Water Drainage Recovery

When you visit a vacation destination, there are a few basic needs that you need to have. One of these basic needs is potable and clean water. You will be surprised at how many places around the world do not have potable or running water, but luckily the United States is able to provide that in nearly all communities. Hurricane Helene brought a disastrous impact to the running water and drainage systems of Asheville last year. The hurricane dumped a total of 40 trillion gallons of water onto the community, leaving it flooded. It can be difficult to picture just how much water that is. 40 trillion gallons of water is the total volume of water in Lake Tahoe or the amount of water rushing through Niagara Falls over 619 days. Any community will be impacted significantly with this amount of rainfall in such a short amount of time. Luckily, the Asheville community has been quick to get water drainage up and running. Asheville has running potable water that is brought in to most homes and businesses. The flooding has left the area with only a memory of the hurricane last year.

River Arts District

One of the most popular areas in Downtown Asheville is the River Arts District. Like other parts of Asheville, the River Arts District saw the massive flooding and destruction by Hurricane Helene. Recovery efforts for an arts community can be difficult, as these areas typically are not the home of big businesses but instead art studios and locally owned businesses. One step at a time was taken into the recovery of the River Arts District and it has its old shine again. The community has been hard at work making sure the River Arts District looks the way it did before Hurricane Helene. The River Arts District has hosted local festivals to promote the rebuilding efforts of the community and support local artists who have been greatly impacted by its closure. Local businesses have held soft and hard reopening ceremonies to open their doors in Asheville again. Recovery continues to this day, and the best way to help is to buy local and support local businesses right here in Asheville. You too can be a part of this road to recovery.

Stop by the Asheville Botanical Garden

Local Attractions

Whenever you pick a place to visit, you are looking for local attractions that will provide you with all kinds of fun. Many local attractions here in Asheville were closed for an untold amount of time just after Hurricane Helene. However, you will find that Asheville has most of its wonderful attractions open again and happy to see new guests. Asheville is a destination that encourages exploration, and you are sure to find that. Outdoor attractions such as the North Carolina Arboretum and Asheville Botanical Garden were both impacted by the heavy floods but are open for visitors once again. Check out local museums and galleries such as the Asheville Art Museum and Biltmore. Pack Square Park is looking great and is an iconic spot in Asheville.

Recovery for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park

One of the biggest areas impacted by Hurricane Helene is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Countless visitors come to Asheville to check out this iconic park, and recovery is still taking place to this day. Many areas of the park remain open and are encouraged to be explored. Visitors will find that some trails and roads are still undergoing repairs. Trails including Big Creek Trail and Gunter Fork Trail continue to remain closed due to landslides and a lost bridge. By visiting the park, you can support continued efforts into the park recovery. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park will always endure.

New York City will be hosting a variety of events this spring, including during the month of April. Take a look at the top New York City events you have to look forward to this April:

Cherry Blossom Season

If you have not seen Brooklyn during the month of April, you are truly missing out. One of Brooklyn’s best kept secrets is its abundance of cherry blossom trees that can be found at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. These beautiful trees light up with light shades of pink in the leaves that create a unique skyline here at the garden. Previous years have held a cherry blossom festival that has since relocated to Washington DC. However, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden continues to showcase these gorgeous trees with the start of the Cherry Blossom Season. This start typically happens in the month of April when the colors finally make their appearance. The first blossoms will appear in early April and typically only bloom for a week or two. This limited appearance makes seeing the cherry blossoms such a treasured experience. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden continues to post updates on when they expect their cherry blossoms to fully bloom. Don’t miss out on a visit to the cherry blossom season; the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is open weekly from Tuesday through Sunday.

Macy’s Flower Show

If there is one brand that has quite the showing here in New York City, it is Macy’s. You recognize the brand at your local mall or from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. Each year Macy’s hosts their Macy’s Flower Show that takes place during the month of April. They will feature curated floral items that will help make planning for Mother’s Day even easier. While visiting a department store may not sound like a lot of fun on paper, you will be thrilled to know this is one of the most looked forward to events of the year. Both locals and visitors flock to the midtown Macy’s store to explore their floral exhibition and exclusive items on display. Their floral field found at the balcony level of their store provides guests with a visual on how their fragrances are created. Window displays are created to provide a magical garden by The Fashion Institute of Technology students. This two-week festival is typically held from late march to early April, providing you with the perfect opportunity to stop by during your visit. Macy’s Herald Square will be the host for this year’s Macy’s Flower Show and is free to attend.

New York International Auto Show

Welcome to the oldest and longest running auto show here in the state of New York, the New York International Auto Show. In fact, this is one of the most popular auto shows in the country and will be once again returning this April. The New York International Auto Show brings the latest automotive trends with two floors of auto displays from automakers found all over the world. This year’s auto show will be the 125th show making it a long standing tradition for locals here in New York City. This is a huge event that will take place over 10 days and provide over 100 different engagement sessions. Over 700 vehicles will be on display in the exhibit space with over one million square feet of space. All styles and brands of cars, including exotic cars, will be on display. Special sessions will provide the chance to see special vehicles including celebrity owned cars, hot rods, exotic vehicles, marine Jeeps, and so much more. Additional experiences include test tracks and more. Single day passes for the New York International Auto Show are now on sale with adult admission starting at $22 and children admission starting at $8. This year’s show will take place from April 18th to the 27th for public admission.

Broadway Shows

One of the best enjoyed experiences here in New York City is catching a show on Broadway. You will find a variety of performances available to see during the month of April. You will find popular shows including Hamilton, Wicked, The Book of Mormon, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and the Lion King available to see. Tickets are available all throughout the week giving you the chance to see these incredible stage productions.

Get Ready for New York City

The spring season is about to start here in New York City, so get ready for your stay today. Reach out to us today to book your stay. Our New York City vacation rentals will keep you close to all of these exciting events in the area.

You’ve dreamed about a New York City vacation ever since you first read “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” for the first time or maybe since you watched the pilot of the “Sex and the City” television series, and now your dreams are about to come true. Your vacation days have been reserved, your airplane tickets have been purchased, and you have reserved your Mighty Tree Properties vacation sanctuary in the Essex House, but are you truly ready to visit New York City? Making your dreams come true is important, and there are so many attractions you have wanted to see, so many restaurants you have wanted to try, and so many places you have wanted to visit, and because we understand how much it means to you, we have created this ultimate first-time visitor guide to New York City, helping you see it all!

Classic Broadway When You Visit New York City

Once upon a time, you wouldn’t have been able to say that you truly saw it all without a viewing of Cats, a Broadway play that ran for 18 years and 7485 performances. The curtain fell on Cats in 2000, but there’s another crop of classic Broadway plays that you might want to add to your itinerary, including the ones listed below.

The Lion King, Minskoff Theater, 200 W 45th Street

The very first opening night of the Lion King was on November 13 in 1997, and for nearly 30 years its wonderful story, catchy music, and innovative costumes have captured our imagination, making it number one on our list of Broadway plays you should add to your bucket list. Unless you have been living under a rock, you know the story, so we aren’t going to bore you with the details, we are just going to encourage you to buy your tickets today!

Wicked, The Gershwin Theater, 222 W 51st Street

As we write this, the Academy Awards are about to start and the movie Wicked is up for quite a few Oscars, but Wicked on Broadway is where it all began back in 2003. Telling the story before Dorothy arrived in Oz, this fantastic show has awed audiences for over two decades and will be a great addition to your vacation experience.

Chicago, The Ambassador Theater, 219 W 49th Street

Opening for the first time all the way back in 1996, Chicago is the longest running show currently on Broadway and lives up to the hype. Roxie Hart has danced and sung her heart out for over 11,000 performances, (Don’t feel sorry for her, it hasn’t been one Roxy, there have been many performing the part over the years!) and when a show has been around for that long, you know it has to be a part of your New York City experience.

The Landmarks of New York City

This category may go on a little longer than usual as we try to get in all of the places you don’t want to miss on the list, so bear with us. We have your best tourist interests at heart!

The Empire State Building, 20 W 34th Street

Built in 1931, this art deco building has starred in movies, has celebrated holidays, and honored the bad times with light shows that have moved us to tears. The lines are long and the ticket prices could be considered a little steep, but if you don’t take that elevator ride up to the 102nd Observatory Deck and take selfies with the city of New York all around, you will be missing out on a big part of what makes our city special.

The Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island

Although these are two completely separate landmarks, tours for both have been combined for most of their existence, so we will combine them here for you as well. The Statue of Liberty was a gift to the US, given to us as a gift of friendship from France in 1886 and dedicated as a national monument in 1924. Today, Statue City Cruises is the only authorized ticket seller for tickets to both the statue and Ellis Island, and visitors can actually tour inside the statue, all the way up to the crown. (Limited tickets are sold for the crown, so be sure to purchase far in advance of your travels if that interests you.) Ellis Island is where many of today’s American stories began, serving as both an island of hope and tears, and their stories are told in the museum on the island in the most impactful of ways. Both landmarks may change the way you look at this city, this state, and our country.

Wall Street and the Charging Bull

Wall Street has held the financial heart of the world in its hands for over 200 years, and although it feels as if the infamous charging bull bronze has been around for an equal amount of time, you may be surprised to learn that it was created after the big crash of 1987 and installed in 1989, making it one of the newer landmarks in the Big Apple. Stone Street, on the other hand, also located in the financial district is NYC’s oldest street, dating back to the 1600s and still lined with cobblestones holding the echoes of history within their depths.

Grand Central Terminal, 89 E 42nd Street

The architecture of Grand Central Terminal, which opened to the public over 100 years ago in 1913, has made it a beloved structure and a must see for travelers visiting from all over the world. More than a transportation hub, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, protecting it forevermore. And yes, if you watched the reboot of Arthur, the Whispering Gallery is real and worth visiting.

One World Trade Center

The newest landmark in New York City, One World Trade Center is the one with the most tragic of histories while also serving as proof that you can’t keep America down; we will always rise again like the phoenix. Also known as the Freedom Tower, it is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere and stands 1776 feet tall, a nod to the first time we showed the world we were a force to be reckoned with. This landmark is one that deserves to be visited by everyone who enters our city limits.

Take a Bite Out of the Big Apple

Many New York restaurants are iconic institutions that deserve to be explored every bit as much as the landmarks we have been talking about, and the ones listed below will ensure that your stay in NYC is authentic and delicious.

Katz’s Delicatessen, 205 E Houston Street

If you want service with a smile and healthy diet food, keep walking, but if you like cranky servers, sandwiches piled high with meat, and maybe want to sit where Meg Ryan performed an iconic scene, Katz’s Delicatessen should be the first restaurant you try. Serving sandwiches and tradition since 1888, we haven’t mentioned that the food is delicious because that almost doesn’t matter, but it is delicious, and you will not leave hungry.

Keen’s Steakhouse, 72 W 36th Street

Just like Katz’s, the history of Keen’s Steakhouse is as important as its food, and it is even older than the deli, having been a part of the Pipe Club prior to 1885 and then officially opening its doors as an independent restaurant in 1885. Famous for its mutton chops, it was originally called Keen’s Chophouse, and today, its legendary mutton chops take first spot on the menu.

John’s of Bleecker Street, 278 Bleecker Street

There’s an ongoing battle in our country over which pizza is better, NY style or Chicago style, but when you visit John’s of Bleecker Street, the war will be over, the battle will be won, with New York style pizza taking the celebratory bow. 1929 may have been a very bad year for the world, but it was an excellent year for the culinary landscape of New York City, as that is when John’s first opened and started selling its iconic pizzas that are still being sold today, nearly 100 years later.

More New York City Adventures

We could go on and on forever with ideas about what you should not miss while in New York, but unless you are planning on staying for at least 100 years, you won’t be able to see it all. These next adventures, however, should be able to fit nicely into your week of wow in the city that never sleeps.

Central Park

Even if you only have a little bit of free time, you need to visit the oasis in the middle of NYC, Central Park. This is the place where America renewed its belief in Santa, where Strawberry Fields memorializes John Lennon, and where the big question has been popped and agreed to during carriage rides through the park, and the park can play an important role in your NY adventures as well.

The Brooklyn Bridge

Older than Katz’s and Keen’s, the Brooklyn Bridge has been a destination point for travelers from all parts of the world since 1883. The object of perhaps one of the first scams with George Parker selling immigrants “his” Brooklyn Bridge, and one of the most popular places for protesters to march, pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists make this bridge an everyday part of their commute.

Times Square

Perhaps the most famous block in the world, Times Square is known as the “Crossroads of the World,” and its bright lights and gigantic television screens can be seen from outer space. The scene of NYE celebrations for over 100 years and home to hidden art that will be a joy to uncover. Your selfie’s taken on the square will become treasured memories of the time you made your NYC dreams come true.

Coney Island

Located in the Southernmost corner of Brooklyn, Coney Island is famous for its hot dogs, for bringing the world’s first roller coasters into existence, and for introducing NY to fun and excitement all the way back in 1823. A visit to the amusement park isn’t necessary for the success of your visit, but if you can swing it, it will add an extra shine to your trip.

Retail Therapy

Shopping is another iconic vacation adventure, and of course you will partake in some retail therapy during your visit, exploring the famous Macy’s of Herald Square (especially during a Thanksgiving or Christmas visit) the shops of Soho, and Bloomingdale’s with its famous brown bags. Vintage shoppers will want to wander the aisles of the Brooklyn Flea, and shoppers will enjoy views of the Statue of Liberty from Brookfield Place, a shopping mall located not far from the 9/11 Memorial and the World Trade Center. Rockefeller Center is a popular shopping destination and at Christmas it is the site of the NYC Christmas tree and ice skating rink; the list of shopping opportunities is an endless one, so be sure to pack an empty bag or two to be filled with all your treasures.

One More New York City Iconic Building

The history of New York is told in the buildings that line its streets, and your Mighty Tree Properties vacation escape has its own story to tell. Offering more than luxurious sanctuaries that will bring you peace and tranquility and a sense of hope and wonder each night of your stay, the building our retreats are located in, Essex House, has been a part of the history of this beautiful city since 1931, with its sign being added to the structure in 1932. And although its history is important and will be felt, the spaces that will bring you comfort are filled with modern amenities that are luxurious and welcoming. Generously sized windows frame views of Central Park to perfection, state of the art televisions bring entertainment options to a quiet evening at home and the most comfortable beds in the state will pave the way for deep sleep and happy dreams. Reserve your favorite escape today!

For many travelers, visiting someplace more than once can be a waste of precious vacation time, simply because you have already seen everything there is to see, but visiting New York City is a completely different experience. Offering something new and wonderful with each month that passes, you could visit a dozen times and have a dozen different vacation experiences, with the only thing staying the same is the comfort, style, and luxury found in our Mighty Tree Properties NYC escapes. This 2025 New York City travel guide will show you how things have changed, how your favorite activities may have stayed the same, and why our “town” gives really excellent vacation!

On Broadway

Everyone has a bucket list of things they want to see and do during their NYC vacations, and more often than not at the top of that list is a Broadway show. If you have visited frequently, you’ve probably seen the ongoing shows, the ones that linger in the limelight for year after year, and you may even have a favorite you would like to see again, but the shows listed below are the new ones coming to the stage in 2025.

Othello at the Ethel Barrymore Theater, February 24th Through June 8th

We are of the firm opinion that Shakespeare should always be on stage somewhere, and we can’t tell you how excited we are that Othello is making its limited appearance on Broadway in 2025. We’re even more excited to announce that Hollywood superstars Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal star in this wonderful play that tells the tale of jealousy and mistrust. This is the first time in 40 years that this particular Shakespeare play has been performed on Broadway and tickets will probably go for a premium if any can still be purchased.

Good Night and Good Luck at the Winter Garden Theater, March 12th Through June 8th

Adapted from the 2005 film of the same name, visitors are going to be excited to hear that George Clooney is making his Broadway debut, playing Edward R. Murrow on the stage, even as he played Murrow’s colleague in the film. Telling the story of the revered journalist, we can’t wait to get our tickets, and we suggest you order yours before you arrive to ensure you don’t miss out, should the show become sold out.

Dead Outlaw, Longacre Theater, Midtown West, April 12th Through December 31st

This quirky play doesn’t have a celebrity lead, nor is it a recreation of an earlier film or stage show, but we think it has the potential to be a show you will love. It does, however, tell the story of outlaw Elmer McCurdy, who was killed in a shootout with police and whose mummified body toured the US as a sideshow act for decades. It’s quirky because it is real, and although we think it will be a success, you may be able to get tickets relatively easily in the early days of its showing.

Our New York City Travel Guide to Epicurean Adventures

The culinary landscape of NYC is one of the most exciting ones in the world, and with new restaurants appearing on the horizon every month, even New Yorkers who live here full time never manage to sample them all. Some of the newest ones that are making a big splash in these opening months of 2025 are listed below.

Coffee & Caviar, 71 Worth Street, Tribeca

Sharing the space with Farra Wine Bar, Coffee & Caviar is open daily from 8 or 8:30 AM until 2 PM, and then Farra takes over each night. This brand new space is the brainchild of a local caviar wholesale distributor, Daysha Smyslov, who tells the story of how her family started every day with caviar when they lived in Russia, and she hopes to bring that tradition to the Big Apple.

Cactus Wren, 98 Rivington Street, Lower East Side

Offering a menu that serves Southwestern dishes prepared with a French flair, this fusion of France and America offers a tasty dining experience. Also tapping into the delicious seafoods of Cape Cod, visitors can expect traditional dishes that include lobster pot pie and caviar service or they can venture into the unusual and try a chicken liver mousse and onions pizza. It’s good we promise!

Gui Steakhouse, 776 8th Avenue, Midtown West

A good steak is always going to be a celebratory meal, and this new steakhouse located in the heart of Midtown West is destined to offer a memorable meal. Featuring a menu that blends American steakhouse with Korean and Asian influences, of course there is also caviar on the menu, which we are mentioning because it seems to the theme of the new restaurants opening in February in New York City.

NYC Events in 2025

These events are ones that come back year after year, but we promise even if you have attended them before, each year brings new things that will capture your interest.

New York International Auto Show, April 18 through April 27, Jacob Javitz Convention Center

Most people in NYC will never drive anywhere, but that doesn’t stop us from being entirely fascinated at the new vehicles shown at the New York International Auto Show. See tomorrow’s vehicles today and start dreaming about the ones that you can’t wait to park in your garage with a visit to this weeklong festival. Rumor has it that the first flying cars are scheduled to be sold in 2025, but we don’t know for sure if any will be shown. It’s still worth attending on the off chance the rumor is true, don’t you think?

Harlem Week 50, August 3rd through August 18th, Harlem

2025 is a very special year, as Harlem is celebrating its 50th year, something that no one ever expected to happen way back when the first Harlem DAY (yes, it only lasted a day back then!) occurred. This year, Harlem Week will actually last two weeks and will offer food, music, drink, and so many more activities, we just can’t list them all on one page!

New York Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2026, September 11th through September 16th

If you have ever watched Sex and the City or are currently watching the reboot “And Just Like That,” you will recognize the excitement that takes over the city during either of the fashion weeks. The Fall/Winter Fashion Week just concluded February 11th, but it isn’t too late to start making plans for the Spring/Summer 2026 Fashion Week, perhaps seeing some of your favorite superstars in the audiences or on the streets, and if you are a fan, chances are you will run into Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda at some point during your visit!

Shop ‘til You Drop

You can’t go on vacation without doing some shopping, especially if your vacation brings you to the city that never sleeps, and the stores listed below are some of the newest ones that are entering the market.

Climax Books, 56 E 4th Street

Amazon hasn’t completely erased the brick-and-mortar bookshops from the landscape, and Climax Books is a great example, opening to much acclaim as it offers a variety of hard to find magazines, books on erotica, and even VHS tapes, because as we know from our vintage shop experiences, everything old is new again.

Other People’s Clothes, 333 Troutman Street in Brooklyn & 885 Woodward Avenue in Queens

Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle are hot words in today’s shopping market, and although the prices can be pretty high at Other People’s Clothes, they sell vintage designer clothing that you may have only seen in the movies. Even better, they offer an online shop, so when you fall in love with the clothing and accessories you find in this chic shop, and you will, you can continue to shop from home even if your home is thousands of miles away!

Chelsea Flea, 29 W 25th Street

Chelsea Flea offers a New York City experience that may outshine all others, offering vintage everything and the opportunity to take back a piece of New York with you when you return to real life. Open year-round on weekends, this is a great spot to purchase authentic souvenirs that are completely opposite the standard I Heart NY tees, mugs, and magnets you can purchase in bulk in almost any other shop in the city.

New Attractions in 2025

This New York City travel guide is geared towards return visitors or guests who love to see new things, and so we will mostly avoid the typical New York tourist attractions, including the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, and the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art. Of course, you will want to visit all of those on your first visit, with or without any input from Mighty Tree Properties. The attractions listed below may be new to the city or off the beaten path adventures that you may never have heard of, and we think they will make this trip a fulfilling one!

Midtown NYC Walking Tour with the Empire State Building

This is the one exception to our above rule of avoiding the standard landmarks, as a ticket to the Empire State Building is included with the walk. It is, however, a new service that just began this year, offering tourists the opportunity to see New York City with an authentic New Yorker as their guide. You will walk the streets of NYC, passing by some of our most famous attractions and hearing the stories that the streets want told, and as you learn about the places you only imagined visiting, you can also ask your guide for tips on popular night spots, new restaurants, and where you can find the best coffee in the city.

Mercer Labs, 21 Dey Street

Mercer Labs Museum of Art and Technology is a relatively new museum in NYC, opening in 2024, and it is unlike any museum you have ever experienced before. Offering 15 experimental exhibition spaces and interactive experiences, it explores the relationship between art and technology in new ways that will simply blow your mind. Also offering an after-hours exhibition called After Dark that explores art, technology, light, and sound, this experience is already a popular one; it is advised that tickets should be bought in advance of your arrival in the Big Apple.

Luna, Luna: Forgotten Fantasy at the Shed, 545 W 30th Street

This next attraction will end March 16th, so it may not be one that you get to enjoy if your trip doesn’t take place in the next couple of weeks, but if you are here during that time and you can get a ticket, this needs not to be missed. Luna, Luna: Forgotten Fantasy is held at the Shed, a local art center, and is the world’s first art amusement park, one that was created in 1987 in Germany and then locked away and forgotten until it was recently rediscovered, reimagined, and reopened right here in New York City.
