The Olde Pink House

Planning a dinner at The Olde Pink House in Savannah, GA is a great addition to your trip with family or friends. Sitting right on Reynolds Square, this 18th-century home serves up traditional Lowcountry cooking inside real historic dining rooms. It gives you an easy way to enjoy a sit-down meal together in the heart of downtown. We always encourage those who plan to experience Savannah to add this iconic dining spot to their itinerary, as it’s almost certainly a guaranteed hit!

A Restaurant Filled with Rich History

The Olde Pink House was originally built in 1771 for James Habersham Jr., one of Georgia’s early leaders. The original builders laid red clay bricks and coated the exterior in white plaster. The damp Savannah weather quickly caused the red brick to bleed right through the plaster finish. That constant pink tint eventually became the mansion’s defining look and gave the restaurant its name.

During the American Revolution and the Civil War, the house served several important roles. Union officers used the building as headquarters when troops occupied the city. Today, it stands as the only 18th-century Georgian mansion left in Savannah. Walking through its front doors, you’ll feel like taking a step back to experience local history.

Classic Southern Cuisine and Dining Experience

The menu at The Olde Pink House focuses on refined Lowcountry cooking paired with traditional Southern flavors. Chefs blend Savannah’s time-honored recipes with fresh seafood, regional produce, and prime cuts of meat to create a full menu of comforting Southern meals. Whether your group comes for lunch or dinner, the kitchen delivers an elevated dining experience that honors local culinary roots.

For starters, our personal favorites include the fried green tomatoes served over sweet corn cream with applewood bacon. Moving on to entrees, we always recommend the crispy scored flounder topped with apricot shallot sauce, as well as the sautéed local shrimp served over cheddar grit cakes. Ordering a mix of these dishes together with delicious sides ranging from mashed potatoes, green beans, sweet potato fries, and mac & cheese gives your group a chance to taste what we think are the top dishes on the menu.

The dining experience here accommodates different moods depending on where your party chooses to sit. Upstairs, you’ll be met with spacious dining rooms that showcase original hardwood floors, crystal chandeliers, and oil portraits from the 1700s. Downstairs, you’ll see the Planters Tavern, where you enter a cozy, candlelit space complete with the original exposed brickwork and dual fireplaces. It’s truly a unique dining experience where you can enjoy Savannah’s rich history and delicious cuisine.

A Reservation is Essential

Getting a reservation early should be one of the first things you check off your to-do list. Tables sell out fast during peak travel seasons, particularly on Friday and Saturday nights. Booking well ahead of time ensures your whole party can sit together. We all know it’s not fun if some people from the group get left out.

While The Olde Pink House doesn’t have a strict dress code, we recommend smart casual to semi-formal attire to match the restaurant’s classy vibe. Parking spaces directly around the Reynolds Square fill up fast. If you’re unable to find a parking space, we recommend going to a nearby municipal garage. A quick note: they charge by the hour. Arriving early gives you a good buffer time to explore Reynolds Square a bit or prepare for your upcoming lunch or dinner reservation.
