If you have ever visited the Great Smoky Mountains, you probably know that the fall season is a favorite, as the leaves change into beautiful colors and the temps drop. A visit here this time of year is just what your family needs. Of course, if you ask the kids, you cannot make them miss out on Halloween and gathering all of the candy they could want. Luckily, you can still take the kids out trick-or-treating during your fall stay here in the Smoky Mountains. Take a look at the different ways to experience Halloween in the Smoky Mountains:
Ancient Lore Village
The Great Smoky Mountains encompasses a wide region with many different towns and cities surrounding the park. Knoxville is one such area that is home to the Ancient Lore Village, a local attraction that has you exploring a park complete with characters from different storytelling lore. Each Halloween season, Ancient Lore Village is taken over by spooky characters and unique attractions exclusive for the season. As your children in costume explore the park, they can get candy from the special characters for a unique trick-or-treat experience. The Halloween season will also provide additional activities such as a screening of Charlie Brown over in the Village Gardens. You can also check out the Gremlin Gameyard. A cash bar is also available for the adults to snag an adult beverage during your time in the park. Halloween Trail at the Village will take place October 18th, 26th, and 30th from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM here at Ancient Lore Village.
Trick-or-Treat at The Island
One of the most popular attractions here around the Smoky Mountains is The Island. It is a huge entertainment and shopping complex located in Pigeon Forge that spans over 23 acres in space. You will find over 60 different shops, restaurants, and attractions for you to enjoy. The most popular of them all is the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel that is a huge 200-foot-tall Ferris wheel with incredible views of the Smoky Mountains. Additional attractions to check out also include the Island Show Fountain and Escape Game. Each Halloween season, The Island sponsors a safe and friendly trick-or-treating experience for the kids. Trick-or-Treat at The Island takes place Halloween evening with local vendors supplying the candy for your children. The event runs from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and is absolutely free for you to attend; all you need is to have your kids dressed up in their best costume and show up for the fun! Don’t forget to also check out the attractions over at The Island while you are there too!

Halloween may be on a weekday this year, but that doesn’t mean you are not able to start trick-or-treating early. Start your Halloween day off over at Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. This local attraction is a local favorite with sprawling underwater habitats for sharks, fish, jellyfish, penguins, and much more. Your kids will marvel at these unique critters and get to enjoy meet and greets along with other activities. This is perfect for families with young children who may be too young to trick-or-treat in the evening. The event kicks off at 11:00 AM on Halloween Day and runs until 3:00 PM. All you need to do is show up in your costume and purchase a regular admission ticket into Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. There will also be costume contests and more fun to enjoy too.
